Over 10 Years ago Mayor Jared Nicholson had started a new event in our region he called the Lynn Shore Showdown. This event collaborated with, Beat The Streets New England, Friends of Nahant Beach, Save The Harbor / Save The Bay and DCR Massachusetts to create a unique event that showcases his city’s beautiful beach! More than a decade later and Nahant Beach has played host to families across New England and beyond for a day of fun and competition!

Lynn Shore Showdown Rules

Rules

  1. Lynn Shore Showdown is about having fun. After all, we’re at the beach. We have widely different levels of experience here. Compete, but remember where you are. And be safe!

  2. Keep yourself hydrated and be careful about overheating.

  3. Wrestlers compete in ring with diameter of 7m (23 feet) in the sand.

  4. First wrestler to three points wins (no fall).

  5. One point for a takedown or push-out (opponent goes out of bounds).

  6. Two points for a takedown with back exposure. There's no wrestling on the ground, wrestlers return to neutral after any scoring.

  7. One period, maximum of three minutes.

  8. If tied after three minutes, sudden death overtime.

  9. No striking, heat-butting, biting, throwing sand or other unsportsmanlike conduct. Any instance will result in immediate default and disqualification from the tournament.

  10. Wrestlers wear swimwear/shorts/workout gear and wrestle barefoot. No slippery substances on skin.
